Memory plays an important role in my working method, the images that I recreate are as much products of memory and often of nostalgia for an experience or an idea. I have included a few older works here just as the background to how my journey as an artist has evolved. If you would like to know more about the ideas behind my work please sign up for my newsletter to receive notifications of future blog posts and publications.
Fragments and traces of experiences and our personal histories are often bound up with particular materials.
βIn these older works I was inspired by works by Rebecca Horn, Rachael Whiteread and Joseph Beuys, to name but a few. It seems that there is nothing in the world that cannot be used as a medium to transport us from one intellectual place to another. Assembling materials and re-contextualising objects was something that I loved to do but it ultimately gave way to the inexhaustible potential of painting as my preferred medium.β
