PHOTOGRAPH BY JEAN MICHEL O’SHEA
Jacqueline was born and grew up in Cornwall, a millennial addition to her Cornish ancestors . Distinctive ancient sites abound in Cornwall and these are a strong feature of her personal history. In her practice she engages with and deepens her connection to place. Her life has been mostly dominated by rural landscapes and the sense of these is what inspires her paintings. Trees are of special interest, from humble hawthorns to gnarly old oaks, Jacqueline is engaged by observing how their growth patterns belie the effects of environment and weather. Drawing from an experimental background and a respect for tradition her work fuses often bold colour and mark making with delicately articulate passages. A member of The Arborealists.
